
Today, municipal elections are taking place across Latvia, the Central Election Commission (CVK) reminds voters.
Ballots can be cast at a total of 948 polling stations throughout Latvia until 8:00 PM. Voters may vote at any polling station within their respective municipality.
During the five days of early voting in the municipal elections, a preliminary 16.12% of eligible voters, or 221,949 people, cast their ballots, according to CVK data.
The highest turnout during early voting was in Riga, where 19.14% of voters participated, followed by Vidzeme with 16.26%, Latgale with 14.42%, Zemgale with 13.57%, and Kurzeme with 13.52%.
In Vidzeme, the most active early voters were in Valka Municipality, where 20.45% of eligible voters participated. Slightly lower turnout was seen in Saulkrasti and Alūksne municipalities, both around 19%.
The lowest turnout in Vidzeme was in Olaine and Gulbene municipalities, where just over 13% of voters participated.
In Latgale, the highest early turnout was in Preiļi Municipality with 19.54%, followed by Balvi with 16.25%. The lowest turnout was in Rēzekne and Augšdaugava municipalities, with 11.14% and 12.14%, respectively.
In Kurzeme, the most active voters were in South Kurzeme Municipality, where 14.59% voted early. The lowest turnout was in Talsi Municipality with 13.12%.
In Zemgale, the highest early voting turnout was in Jēkabpils Municipality with 15.76%, while the lowest was in Bauska Municipality, where only 11.5% of eligible voters participated.
Technical issues affected the voting systems and registries on Monday and Wednesday, while no major problems were reported on Tuesday or Thursday.
Until 12:00 PM today, voters whose health conditions significantly prevent them from reaching a polling station may request to vote at their current location within their municipality. For the first time, mobile voting services are also being organized in these elections.
