The weather in Latvia continues to be determined by cyclones, which is why it rained in many places in the country in the last week of July, with heavy rain in some areas, and even very heavy in some places, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
The July precipitation norm has already been exceeded at 23 observation stations, and the highest precipitation so far has been recorded in Daugavpils, where 181.1 mm fell, which is approximately 2.5 times more than the norm. The weather will remain rainy at the end of the week and into the new week, with thunderstorms also expected in some places.
On the first day of August, the sun will mix with clouds, and rain is expected in most of the territory for a while. Heavy rain is still expected in some places until midday, which will gradually stop, but in the afternoon and evening, rain clouds will form in some places, mainly in the southern regions, which will bring short-term rain, potentially also heavy rain and thunderstorms.
The wind will blow slowly, only in the first half of the day it will be slightly stronger on the coast.
The thermometer will only rise to +17…+22 degrees.
During the weekend, there will be a variable amount of clouds in the sky, with occasional sunshine. Rain is expected mainly in the western and central regions on both Saturday and Sunday, with locally thunderstorms. The wind will blow slowly. On Saturday night, the air will remain cooler – the thermometer will drop to +10…+16 degrees, but on Sunday the night will be slightly warmer and the air will cool to +13…+18 degrees. During the day, the air temperature will stay within +21…+26 degrees.
