From the 29th of September to the 2nd of October, Minister of Transport Atis Švinka and representatives of Latvian industry companies carried out a working visit to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, including participation in one of the largest transport and logistics exhibitions in Eurasia – Translogistica Kazakhstan 2025, held in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The Latvian delegation was joined at the exhibition and during the visit by the Freeport of Ventspils Authority and port businesses.
The visit included a meeting with the Latvian Ambassador to Uzbekistan, as well as a Latvia–Uzbekistan business seminar aimed at fostering cooperation in the fields of transport and logistics, and discussions with representatives of industries such as manufacturing, transport, mineral resources, and agricultural product exports.
Since its launch in 1996, the Translogistica Kazakhstan project has become a key event in Central Asia for entrepreneurs in transport, logistics, engineering, and related industries. The exhibition offers a full range of sector solutions: from freight forwarding support to software and equipment for storage and cargo handling.
This year,
the exhibition also featured several conferences and forums,
including the 8th International Transport and Logistics Business Forum “New Silk Way”, a strategic dialogue on the future of transit routes, Kazakhstan’s role in Eurasian transport, and prospects for international cooperation. Another highlight was the forum “Kazakhstan – European Union”, focused on increasing export-import flows and promoting the transition to green technologies.
Latvia’s delegation at the exhibition and working visit included representatives of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Latvia, among them Minister Atis Švinka, Latvijas Dzelzceļš (Latvian Railways) and its subsidiary LDZ Cargo, the Freeport of Riga Authority, the Liepāja Special Economic Zone Authority, the Freeport of Ventspils Authority – represented by Head of Analytics and Planning Mārcis Nēliuss, Development Project Manager Kristīne Jansone, and Marketing Specialist Karīna Mihadjuka – as well as representatives of port companies Ventspils Grain Terminal, Ventspils Commercial Port, and Baltic Coal Terminal.
