Forecasters in Latvia are warning of significant temperature swings in the coming days.
On Thursday, clouds will bring light snow in some areas, although sunshine will occasionally break through. Winds will remain light. Air temperatures will rise to between –3°C and –8°C.
During the night into Friday, temperatures will not fall below –17°C. On Friday daytime, temperatures are expected to range from +1°C along the western coast of Kurzeme to –6°C in Vidzeme and Latgale. Light precipitation is expected only in the first half of the night. During the day, sunshine will break through the clouds in many places, and no precipitation is forecast.
On Saturday, skies will become overcast, and in the second half of the day the clouds will bring wet snow
and snow, with rain also possible in some coastal areas. Winds will strengthen slightly. Nighttime temperatures will range from –2°C to –13°C, with colder conditions persisting in eastern parts of the country. Daytime temperatures will be between 0°C and –4°C.
Sunday night will see light frost, but during the day a thaw will spread across the entire country. Rain and wet snow are expected in many areas.
