On Thursday, as a precipitation zone crosses the country, rain is expected during the night in the western and central regions, and during the day in the eastern parts of Latvia, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
A southwesterly to southerly wind will remain gusty, with gusts locally reaching up to 15 metres per second – during the night along the coast and in Vidzeme, and during the day in Kurzeme. The minimum air temperature at night will be between +1 and +6 degrees Celsius, while during the day the air will warm up to +5 to +10 degrees, and in the far southeastern regions up to +11 to +14 degrees.
On Friday, light rain is expected only during the first half of the night in eastern regions, while the day will pass without precipitation. A light to moderate southerly wind will blow. During the night and in the morning, fog will form in some areas, reducing visibility.
The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre indicates that
Saturday will also be dry, with a small amount of cloud cover across most of the country,
although western regions will see more clouds. At night, temperatures will drop to between -3 and +3 degrees, while during the day the temperature may reach +13 to +14 degrees in some places, with coastal areas remaining a few degrees cooler.
On Sunday and at the beginning of the new week, weather conditions will again be influenced by cyclonic activity, bringing more rain. During cloudy nights, temperatures will mostly drop to between -2 and +3 degrees. On Sunday during the day, as skies clear, temperatures may still reach up to +14 degrees in some areas, but in the following days the maximum temperature will be a few degrees lower.
On the night of March 29, the transition to daylight saving time will take place – clocks will be set one hour forward, resulting in longer daylight in the evening hours.
