Monday will be cloudy, with skies clearing only in some southwestern areas of the country. Clouds will bring rain and sleet in some places at night and mainly to central and eastern regions during the day, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
At night, a light to moderate westerly to southwesterly wind will blow, with coastal gusts reaching up to 15 m/s at the beginning of the night. During the day, the wind will gradually shift from the west and northwest. In the morning and forenoon, fog will thicken in some areas, reducing visibility. Minimum nighttime temperatures will range from -1…+2°C, while daytime temperatures will rise by a few degrees.
On Tuesday, skies will remain cloudy, with some clearing in western areas. Nighttime temperatures will drop to 0…-4°C. Unlike the other days, snow is expected in some eastern areas during the night, and freezing rain is possible locally. During the day, temperatures will rise to +1…+5°C, and no precipitation is expected. Winds will be light, gradually turning from the south and southwest during the day and strengthening, with gusty winds along the coast in the evening.
Fog will also form in some areas, as on previous days.
Wednesday will see variable cloud cover, with sunshine during the day. Rain and sleet are expected in some places at night. Winds will remain light to moderate, and fog will form in some areas. Coastal winds will still be gusty at the beginning of the night, but from midnight onward the wind will gradually shift from the west and northwest. Minimum temperatures at night will range from -1…+2°C, while daytime temperatures will climb to +2…+7°C.
In the second half of the week, the influence of an anticyclone will strengthen — gusty winds will ease, some days will be dry, and skies will clear more often. Daytime temperatures in some areas will rise to +5…+10°C. However, at night, when skies clear and the air cools rapidly, temperatures may drop locally to -5…-7°C.
