During the night into Thursday, a broad precipitation zone will continue moving across Latvia. Rain is expected across most of the country, with heavy downpours and thunderstorms forecast in some areas, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
During the day, rain is expected mainly in the eastern regions, with localized thunderstorms possible. A light to moderate northeasterly to northerly wind will blow, and during nighttime thunderstorms strong gusts may occur in some places. Overnight temperatures are expected to range from +3°C to +7°C, while daytime temperatures will rise to +9°C…+14°C. In some parts of Vidzeme it will remain cooler, with temperatures of only +6°C…+8°C.
No precipitation is expected on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, fog may form in some parts of Kurzeme, reducing visibility. A light to moderate northeasterly to northerly wind will continue, turning easterly to northeasterly on Saturday morning. During the night into Friday, temperatures will fall to +1°C…+6°C, with frost of 0°C to -1°C possible in some places.
The night into Saturday will be a few degrees warmer.
Daytime temperatures will rise to +12°C…+16°C, while coastal areas will see +9°C…+12°C.
At the end of the week and the beginning of next week, rain is expected in many areas, while winds will remain light to moderate. At the start of next week, temperatures in many places will once again fluctuate around the +20°C mark.
