Over the coming days, atmospheric pressure will gradually rise, and weather conditions across most of Latvia will be determined by an anticyclone, while southeastern Latvia will remain under the influence of a cyclone. As a result, this part of the country will experience the cloudiest conditions along with rainfall, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
A chilly northerly wind will blow, remaining light to moderate, with gusts possible in some areas around midday. Nighttime temperatures will fall to between +4°C and +8°C, while during the night into Friday, as skies clear, minimum temperatures in some places may drop to around 0°C, with ground frost of 0°C to -2°C possible in isolated areas.
During the day, temperatures will rise to +12°C…+16°C, although
southeastern Latvia and the coast of the Gulf of Kurzeme will remain a few degrees cooler.
In the first half of next week, the influence of the cyclone will strengthen. Skies will mostly remain cloudy, rain will become more frequent, and winds will occasionally turn gusty.
Nighttime temperatures are expected to stay between +3°C and +8°C, while daytime temperatures will remain similar at around +10°C…+15°C.
