Cloudy skies are expected across Latvia on Tuesday, with clearer conditions only in some eastern areas. Rain is forecast in many parts of the country during the night, including heavy downpours and thunderstorms in certain locations. In some southeastern regions, very heavy rainfall and large hail are also possible, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
During the day, light rain is expected in some areas. Fog may thicken overnight and in the early morning hours, with reduced visibility in some coastal areas persisting throughout the day. Visibility may significantly deteriorate during both fog and heavy rain showers. A light to moderate northerly wind will blow, while thunderstorms may bring sudden strong gusts. Winds are expected to ease during the daytime.
Nighttime temperatures will remain between +9°C and +14°C, while daytime temperatures are forecast to rise to between +11°C and +16°C, reaching as high as +18°C to +23°C in eastern regions.
Weather conditions on Wednesday and Thursday are expected to remain mostly cloudy, although occasional clear spells are likely. On Wednesday, rain is mainly forecast in eastern Latvia, where thunderstorms may also occur in the morning.
The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre notes that precipitation will continue on Thursday, with prolonged rainfall expected in eastern regions, while rain will spread to western Latvia in the afternoon.
Fog is expected to form in some places during nights and mornings,
and visibility may significantly worsen in certain areas, especially along the coast. Winds will remain light.
Nighttime air temperatures are forecast to drop to between +5°C and +12°C, although some eastern areas may remain warmer, with temperatures reaching up to +15°C. During the daytime, temperatures will rise to between +16°C and +22°C, while cooler weather will persist along the coast and in some eastern regions, where temperatures are expected to stay between +11°C and +17°C.
Toward the end of the week, warmer weather is expected to spread across a wider area of Latvia. Nighttime temperatures across almost the entire country are forecast to remain above +10°C, while daytime temperatures in some locations could rise as high as +24°C. Cloud cover is expected to decrease, leading to lower amounts of precipitation.
