On Wednesday, skies will gradually become overcast from the south, and from the afternoon rain is expected across almost the entire country, with heavy downpours and thunderstorms possible in some areas, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
A light to moderate northerly and northeasterly wind will blow, becoming gusty during thunderstorms. Precipitation will gradually decrease during the day on Thursday. Nighttime temperatures are expected to range between +2°C and +8°C, while during the night into Thursday, frost of 0°C to -1°C is expected in some parts of Vidzeme. Daytime temperatures will rise to +9°C…+16°C, although on Thursday Vidzeme will be a few degrees cooler.
At the end of the week and the beginning of next week,
as the influence of an anticyclone strengthens, skies will clear and no precipitation is expected.
A light to moderate northerly wind will continue to blow. Nighttime temperatures will cool to +3°C…+8°C, while daytime temperatures will rise to +9°C…+16°C, and in some places up to +18°C.
At the beginning of next week, temperatures in many areas are expected to climb above +20°C once again. However, rain is forecast in many parts of the country, with thunderstorms and heavy showers possible in some locations.
