Cloud cover will increase across Latvia on Wednesday as a precipitation zone approaches from the southwest, bringing showers to many parts of the country, with thunderstorms possible in some areas, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
The rain band will continue moving across Latvia overnight into Thursday, when thunderstorms in eastern regions may be accompanied by heavy downpours. After the rain, cloudy skies will gradually clear from the west. Winds will remain generally light on both days, although gusty winds are expected during thunderstorms. Overnight temperatures will range between 13 and 18 degrees Celsius, while daytime highs on Wednesday will reach 24 to 29 degrees, remaining a few degrees cooler along much of the coast. On Thursday, temperatures will climb to 21 to 26 degrees.
Towards the end of the week, the influence of a cyclone will bring more cloud cover and widespread rainfall. Showers are expected in many areas during the day, with thunderstorms possible in some locations. Winds will strengthen on Friday, with gusts reaching up to 15 metres per second along the coast during the afternoon, and windy conditions are expected to continue into Saturday. The weather will also become noticeably cooler, with daytime temperatures mostly ranging between 18 and 23 degrees Celsius.
The beginning of next week is expected to remain unsettled, with further rainy days and daytime temperatures not exceeding 20 degrees Celsius across much of Latvia, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
