Wednesday and Thursday will bring predominantly cloudy weather across Latvia, although skies are expected to clear at times and sunshine will break through in some areas, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Rain is expected from time to time, mainly in eastern parts of the country. A light to moderate west to northwesterly wind will prevail. On Wednesday, wind gusts will strengthen in Vidzeme, while on Thursday the wind will shift to a westerly and southwesterly direction and gradually ease.
Night-time temperatures will fall to between +9°C and +14°C. During the day, temperatures will rise to +15°C to +20°C, while on Thursday temperatures in central Latvia could approach +25°C.
According to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, an anticyclone strengthening from the south will increasingly influence Latvia toward the end of the week. As a result, sunshine will become more frequent between the clouds and
overall precipitation levels will decrease compared with the first half of the week.
However, completely dry weather is not expected. Localized showers are still forecast, while on Sunday rain is expected across a wider area and thunderstorms may also develop.
Winds will ease during the night into Friday and are expected to remain generally light throughout the weekend. Air temperatures will not change significantly. In some areas, maximum temperatures could reach +25°C to +27°C over the weekend.
At the beginning of next week, including during the summer solstice celebrations and Midsummer Eve, weather conditions will remain variable. Rain clouds are still expected in some locations, while daytime temperatures will remain relatively warm. At the same time, winds will gradually strengthen and become gusty once again.
