Latvia will see mostly cloudy skies on Thursday, the 23rd of July, although sunshine is expected to break through in parts of the country’s eastern regions, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
During the first half of the night, rain is expected in parts of eastern Latvia. From the second half of the night onwards, showers will mainly affect the western and central regions, with isolated thunderstorms and locally heavy downpours also possible.
Light winds will allow fog to form in some areas overnight, reducing visibility.
Night-time temperatures will fall to +12°C to +15°C, while eastern parts of the country will be slightly cooler, with lows of +9°C to +12°C. Daytime temperatures are forecast to reach +15°C to +19°C.
On Friday, scattered showers are expected, mainly in central and eastern Latvia, with isolated heavy rainfall possible.
During the early hours of Saturday, rain will remain localised before becoming more widespread later in the morning.
With light winds persisting, fog is expected to develop during both Friday and Saturday nights, again reducing visibility. Winds will strengthen in Kurzeme from the second half of Saturday night.
Overnight temperatures through the period will generally range between +11°C and +16°C, while daytime highs are expected to reach +18°C to +22°C.
Towards the end of the week and into the beginning of next week, sunny intervals will alternate with clouds and occasional showers.
As warmer air moves north into Latvia from the south, temperatures will continue to rise, with much of the country expected to see daytime highs of +20°C to +24°C early next week.
