The first days of the week will be rainier compared with the past weekend. Rain is expected in many parts of Latvia on Monday, while on Tuesday it will mainly affect the Latgale region, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
While some areas may experience both heavy showers and thunderstorms on Monday, Tuesday’s more unsettled weather will be caused by a precipitation zone over the far east of Latvia, bringing more prolonged rainfall. Winds will generally be light and westerly, gradually shifting to northerly. Temperatures on both days will hover around +20°C, while overnight temperatures in many areas will remain between +10°C and +15°C.
Weather conditions are not expected to change significantly in the middle of the week, as Latvia will remain under the influence of cyclonic activity, meaning that the likelihood of rain will remain relatively high. However,
precipitation will be unevenly distributed, as the location of rain bands will vary from day to day,
and some areas may escape the rain altogether. No significant increase in wind strength is expected.
Towards the end of the week, attention should be paid to the possibility of intense and prolonged rainfall, potentially beginning during the night into Saturday and continuing throughout the day. The rainfall would be associated with an active cyclone moving across Latvia from the south. Therefore, it should be kept in mind that the forecast may still change considerably depending on the cyclone’s exact track.
