On Monday, the effects of the departing cyclone will still be felt, with brief rain expected in many areas and thunderstorms developing locally in central and eastern regions during the day, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
A light to moderate westerly to northwesterly wind will blow. During the first half of the night, winds will remain gusty along the Gulf of Riga coast in Vidzeme, reaching up to 15 metres per second, before gradually easing. Temperatures will fall to between 11 and 16 degrees Celsius overnight, while daytime highs will range from 15 to 19 degrees.
On Tuesday, occasional rain is still expected in eastern and central regions. From Wednesday, however, an anticyclone will approach Latvia, bringing less precipitation and drier weather for the remainder of the working week.
During the night into Tuesday and in the morning, fog may become dense in some eastern areas. On Tuesday, a light to moderate westerly wind will blow, turning northerly from late morning.
On Wednesday, winds will ease and generally remain light.
Night-time temperatures will range from 11 to 16 degrees Celsius, although some areas may be a few degrees cooler during the night into Wednesday. Daytime temperatures will reach between 16 and 20 degrees.
During the second half of the week, conditions will be mostly dry and calm. However, another cyclone is expected to approach Latvia over the weekend, bringing cloudy and rainy weather. Despite the rain, strong winds are not expected, while daytime temperatures will remain around 20 degrees Celsius.
