Three days after the storm, around eleven thousand customers in Latvia are still experiencing power outages, according to Sadales tīkls.
The most significant power disruptions on Wednesday morning remain in Aizkraukle, Preiļi, Jēkabpils and Rēzekne municipalities.
“There may be situations where power is restored but another outage occurs shortly afterwards. This is possible because damaged trees or branches may continue to fall onto power lines, causing new faults,” the company explained.
By 6 a.m. on the 26th of August,
electricity had been restored to around two hundred and sixty-six thousand customers,
or approximately ninety-six percent of all customers who lost power as a result of the storm. So far, one thousand two hundred and fifty-six storm-related faults in the electricity distribution network have been repaired.
More than two hundred Sadales tīkls crews, as well as seven crews from Estonian distribution system operator Elektrilevi, are expected to continue repair work today. The company is also cooperating with telecommunications operators to restore mobile communications.
Drone inspections of storm damage are continuing.
