Brief showers are expected in some areas on Tuesday, while in the southeastern regions rain will be prolonged at the start of the day and may be heavy in places, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
During the first part of the night into Wednesday, rain is expected in some eastern areas, while brief showers are forecast across many parts of the country during the day. Local thunderstorms are possible on both Tuesday and Wednesday. With light winds prevailing, fog may form in some areas overnight on both days.
Maximum temperatures on both days will range from +15°C to +20°C, with temperatures in some areas a degree or so higher on Wednesday. At night, temperatures will fall to between +10°C and +15°C, although during the night into Wednesday it will be a degree or so cooler across a large part of the country.
Weather conditions in the second half of the week will not change significantly,
as Latvia will remain under the influence of cyclones, meaning that the likelihood of rain will remain relatively high. However, precipitation will be unevenly distributed, as the location of rain bands will vary from day to day, and some areas may escape the rain altogether.
Winds are expected to gradually strengthen on Thursday, with gusts reaching up to 15 m/s in Kurzeme around midday.
Towards the end of the week, the amount of precipitation may decrease, although winds could become gusty again in parts of Kurzeme on Sunday.
