A Wildberries logistics complex in Russia’s Leningrad Region was targeted by Ukrainian drones overnight on the 4th of August, according to Dialog.UA.
An air raid alert was issued across the Leningrad Region at approximately 4:06 a.m. local time. Shortly afterwards, explosions were reported in several parts of the region. According to reports, Ukrainian drones struck a major Wildberries warehouse complex in Krasny Bor, near St. Petersburg. The logistics centre covers a total area of 154,000 square metres. The drone alert in the region was lifted at 6:33 a.m.
Leningrad Region Governor Alexander Drozdenko confirmed that strategically important facilities came under aerial attack during the night. He said damage had been recorded at a warehouse near the village of Krasny Bor in the Tosnensky District. Drozdenko claimed that Russian air defence systems intercepted 17 Ukrainian drones over the Leningrad Region.
During the same night, the Ukrainian Defence Forces also reportedly struck another Wildberries warehouse in Chekhov, in Russia’s Moscow Region. According to Dialog.UA, an explosion and subsequent fire were reported at the site.
Local residents said they heard several explosions. Videos posted online show a large fire, reportedly caused by the Ukrainian drone strike, with a massive column of black smoke rising into the sky. “Something is burning again,” one resident of the Moscow Region is heard saying.
It has not yet been officially confirmed which strategic facility near Chekhov was targeted. However, it is believed that the attacked site may also have been a Wildberries logistics complex. The Ukrainian Defence Forces have previously penetrated Russian air defences in the Moscow Region on multiple occasions, targeting military and strategic infrastructure, including facilities in Chekhov.
For example, on the night of the 28th of July, a Ukrainian drone strike triggered a fire at the Chekhov Regeneration Plant.
As previously reported, the Ukrainian Defence Forces have been carrying out repeated strikes on Wildberries warehouse facilities since the 18th of July.
