On Tuesday night, skies will be partly cloudy, while cloud cover will decrease during the day. No precipitation is expected, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Fog will form in some eastern areas, reducing visibility to 500–1,000 meters. A light to moderate easterly wind will blow. Overnight, temperatures will drop to –20 to –24°C, while along the coast and in parts of Kurzeme temperatures will range between –13 and –18°C. In some southern regions, temperatures may fall as low as –25 to –29°C.
On Wednesday and Thursday, skies will be mostly cloudy, clearing only in some places. On Thursday night, snow is expected in western and central regions, and during the day also in parts of the east. In some areas, the snow cover may increase by 1–2 cm.
On Wednesday, a moderate southeasterly to easterly wind will blow, easing on Thursday. Temperatures will become somewhat milder, with nighttime lows averaging –11 to –16°C, and warmer conditions along the coast. Daytime maximum temperatures will range between –5 and –10°C.
Toward the end of the week, temperatures will remain above –13°C. In the far western parts of the country, the thermometer will approach 0°C, making a slight thaw possible in some areas. Skies will mostly be overcast, and precipitation — snow, sleet, and rain — is expected on Sunday and Monday.
