Entrepreneur Elon Musk has once again topped the list of the world’s richest people compiled by Forbes, holding the number one position for the second consecutive year with an estimated fortune of 839 billion dollars.
Musk’s wealth increased by about half a trillion dollars over the past year, largely driven by the rising share prices of Tesla and SpaceX.
Second place on the Forbes list is held by Larry Page, co-founder of Google, with a fortune of 257 billion dollars. In third place is the other Google co-founder, Sergey Brin, whose wealth is estimated at 237 billion dollars.
Fourth and fifth positions are occupied by Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, with 224 billion dollars, and Mark Zuckerberg, head of Meta, with 222 billion dollars.
Forbes also notes that
the wealth of Donald Trump, the President of the United States, increased by 27% to 6.5 billion dollars.
According to the magazine, this year’s ranking includes 3,428 billionaires, the highest number since Forbes began compiling the list in 1987.
The combined wealth of the world’s richest individuals now totals 20.1 trillion dollars, up from 16.1 trillion dollars last year, marking another record high.
