Weather conditions in Latvia will remain changeable in the coming days, with rain expected midweek but warmer spring temperatures forecast for the weekend, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
On Thursday, short periods of rain are expected across much of the country. A light to moderate southerly to south-westerly wind will continue to blow. Fog may thicken overnight in some regions and later in the afternoon along coastal areas, reducing visibility. Daytime temperatures are forecast to reach +9°C to +14°C, although it will remain a few degrees cooler in Kurzeme and along the coast.
On Friday, skies will be mostly cloudy, but conditions will gradually clear from the west during the day and the weather will remain dry. Fog may again form overnight and in the early morning hours in some areas. A light to moderate southerly wind will persist, becoming gustier near the coast. Night-time temperatures may briefly drop to around –1°C in some places,
while daytime temperatures will remain similar to those of the previous day.
On Saturday, cloud cover will increase again from the west, and by evening some areas of Kurzeme may experience rain. Winds will remain light to moderate from the south, with gusts along the coast early in the night. Night-time temperatures will stay above freezing at +1°C to +6°C, while daytime temperatures will rise further to +10°C to +15°C, although coastal areas will remain slightly cooler.
On Sunday and at the beginning of next week, skies are expected to become cloudier with more frequent rainfall. Daytime temperatures will generally reach +7°C to +12°C, while cooler conditions will persist along the coast as the wind shifts to a westerly direction. Overnight temperatures may still drop to around –1°C in some areas.
