Skies will be mostly cloudy on Thursday, with some clearing expected in the first half of the day, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
As a cyclone approaches from the north, a precipitation zone will reach Latvia in the second half of the day and continue moving across the country overnight into Friday. As a result, rain is expected in many areas, with wet snow possible in eastern regions.
During the day on Friday, however, conditions will turn dry again. With light to moderate southwesterly and westerly winds, fog may form in some areas during the night and early morning, significantly reducing visibility.
Night-time temperatures will drop to between +1°C and -4°C, although it may be slightly warmer in parts of the east.
On Thursday, temperatures will rise to +7°C to +12°C, and on Friday to +5°C to +10°C, while coastal areas will remain a few degrees cooler.
Over the weekend, weather conditions will be influenced by an anticyclone, bringing dry and calm weather.
Air temperatures will remain within similar ranges both at night and during the day, and winds will stay light. No significant changes are expected at the beginning of the new working week — sunshine will alternate with clouds, and no notable precipitation is forecast. From midweek onward, rain clouds are expected to become more frequent.
