This week in Latvia, weather typical of spring will persist, with changeable conditions – at the beginning of the week it will be windy and rich in precipitation, but from midweek it will become calmer, drier, and at times also sunnier, reports the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Although slight frost will remain at night, daytime temperatures will gradually rise. Winds from the west and north will prevail.
On Tuesday, cloudy and wet weather will continue, with precipitation across a large part of the country. During the day, the west to northwesterly wind will turn from the north, with the strongest gusts expected in coastal and western regions, reaching 15–19 m/s, and even up to 20 m/s along the southern coast of the Gulf.
Air temperature at night will be 0…+4°C, while during the day it will warm up to +3…+6°C.
On Wednesday and Thursday, weather conditions will become calmer and will remain so until the end of the week – sunshine will appear more frequently in many places. On Wednesday night, light and short-term precipitation is possible in some areas, but afterwards, under the influence of an anticyclone, the weather will be mostly dry. With moderate winds mainly from the north, temperatures during the night will drop below 0°C, while during the day the air will warm up to +6…+11°C in many areas.
