Thursday will see variable cloud cover, with rain expected at times in central and eastern regions, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre. Thunderstorms are also possible in some areas.
A moderate to moderately strong northwesterly to northerly wind will blow, with gusts reaching 15–19 metres per second. Overnight temperatures will drop to between +6°C and +11°C, while daytime highs will range from +11°C to +16°C.
During the night into Friday, skies will remain partly cloudy, while Friday daytime will be mostly cloudy with occasional sunny intervals. Short-term rain is expected overnight and again in the afternoon in eastern regions, while light rain may also occur in some western areas around midday. Local thunderstorms are possible early in the night.
Winds will be light to moderate from the west, although along the Gulf coast during the night a moderate to moderately strong northwesterly to westerly wind is expected, with gusts reaching 15–18 metres per second.
Night-time temperatures will remain between +5°C and +10°C,
while daytime temperatures will rise to between +12°C and +17°C.
The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre notes that the gusty winds will ease toward the end of May, with light winds expected across the country from Saturday onward. Weather conditions will also become warmer compared with the middle of the week, with temperatures in many places climbing to around +20°C, although cooler conditions will persist in coastal and eastern regions.
Rain over the weekend is expected mainly in western Latvia, while the new week will begin largely without significant precipitation. Rain is forecast to return to western and central regions by the middle of next week.
