Cloudy and unsettled weather will continue across Latvia through the weekend and into the beginning of next week, bringing frequent rainfall and occasional thunderstorms to many parts of the country, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Winds are expected to remain mostly light, while daytime temperatures will generally stay around +20°C, with no significant heat expected in the near future.
On Friday, June 12, skies will remain mostly cloudy, with only occasional sunny intervals. Some areas will experience brief showers. Winds will be light, and temperatures will rise to +15°C to +19°C.
During the weekend, cloud cover will dominate, although there will be periods of sunshine as clouds temporarily break apart. Rain is expected across much of the country from time to time, and isolated thunderstorms accompanied by heavy downpours are also possible.
With winds remaining light, fog is expected to form in some areas late Saturday night and Sunday morning, reducing visibility.
Night-time temperatures will range between +5°C and +12°C. On Saturday, daytime temperatures will reach +15°C to +21°C, although eastern Latvia will be a few degrees cooler. On Sunday, temperatures are expected to rise only to +13°C to +17°C.
During the first half of next week, a series of cyclones will continue to influence weather conditions in Latvia. Cloudy skies and rainy weather are expected to persist, while localized thunderstorms may also develop.
Light to moderate winds will prevail, and daytime temperatures are forecast to remain below +20°C throughout the period.
