Latvia is set to experience a return of summer-like weather, with daytime temperatures expected to reach as high as +26°C later this week, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
During the night into Tuesday, skies will remain mostly clear with only a small amount of cloud cover, although clouds will gradually increase throughout the day. No significant precipitation is expected overnight, but brief showers may develop in some areas during the afternoon.
With light winds prevailing, fog is expected to form in certain areas overnight, particularly in Kurzeme, significantly reducing visibility. Night-time temperatures will fall to between +7°C and +12°C, while daytime temperatures will rise to +19°C to +24°C. Coastal areas will remain slightly cooler, with temperatures ranging from +14°C to +18°C.
In the middle of the week, sunshine will alternate with clouds. On Wednesday, scattered showers are expected, mainly in northeastern regions, and isolated thunderstorms are also possible.
Thursday is forecast to remain dry.
Under light wind conditions, patches of fog may form in some locations during Wednesday night and the early morning hours. Nights will become noticeably warmer, with minimum temperatures generally between +11°C and +15°C. During the day, temperatures will climb to between +20°C and +26°C, although the Kurzeme coast will remain a few degrees cooler.
Summer-like warmth is expected to continue through the end of the week. Light to moderate easterly winds will prevail. However, the influence of a cyclone will gradually strengthen, and from Friday an atmospheric front is forecast to move across Latvia, bringing prolonged rainfall to many parts of the country.
