Partly cloudy skies are expected across Latvia on Wednesday. According to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, light rain is forecast in some northern areas during the night, while brief showers are expected in parts of northeastern Latvia during the afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms are also possible.
Winds will remain light. Overnight temperatures will fall to between +10°C and +15°C, while daytime temperatures will rise to a summery +23°C to +27°C. Coastal areas will remain slightly cooler, with temperatures ranging from +20°C to +22°C.
On Thursday, sunshine will alternate with clouds, and rain is expected in some coastal areas by the evening. During the second half of the night, patches of fog may form in eastern regions, reducing visibility.
A light to moderate easterly wind will prevail, strengthening from midday as southeasterly and southerly winds develop. Gusts in western and central regions may reach up to 15 metres per second. Overnight temperatures will remain between +10°C and +15°C, while daytime temperatures are forecast to climb to between +22°C and +27°C.
Some locations along the Kurzeme coast will again be a few degrees cooler.
Friday will bring predominantly cloudy conditions, although occasional clear spells are expected. During the night, a precipitation zone will begin moving across Latvia from the west, bringing rain to most of the country. By the afternoon, isolated thunderstorms may also develop in eastern regions.
Winds will be light. Night-time temperatures will range from +13°C to +16°C, while daytime temperatures will reach +18°C to +23°C. Along parts of the Kurzeme coast, temperatures will remain cooler at +14°C to +18°C.
The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre reports that summer-like warmth will continue into the weekend. Light to moderate winds are expected, but the influence of a cyclone will persist. As a result, prolonged rainfall is forecast across most of Latvia, with thunderstorms also possible in some areas.
