Summer-like weather will continue across Latvia in the coming days, with temperatures rising to as high as +26°C. However, the pleasant warmth will be accompanied by increasing chances of rain and thunderstorms as the weekend approaches, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
On Thursday, sunshine will alternate with clouds. A light to moderate easterly wind will blow, strengthening during the day and gradually turning from the southeast and south. Around midday, wind gusts may reach up to 14 metres per second.
Overnight temperatures will range from +10°C to +15°C, while daytime temperatures will climb to between +20°C and +25°C. Some locations along the Kurzeme coast will remain a few degrees cooler.
Friday will bring variable cloud cover, with rain expected in some areas. From the afternoon onwards, isolated thunderstorms may develop in central regions of the country.
On Saturday, cloud cover will increase further and rainfall will become more widespread,
affecting most of Latvia. During the morning and late morning hours, thunderstorms are also possible in parts of eastern Latvia.
Winds will remain generally light. Night-time temperatures will stay mild, ranging from +12°C to +17°C. During the day on Friday, temperatures are expected to reach +21°C to +26°C, while areas along the western coast of the Gulf of Riga will see slightly cooler conditions of +17°C to +20°C. Saturday is expected to be a few degrees cooler overall.
Sunday and the beginning of next week will remain pleasantly warm with light to moderate winds. While only isolated showers are expected on Sunday, more widespread rainfall is forecast at times during the following week.
