Rain will cover most of Latvia on Wednesday, with prolonged and at times heavy rainfall expected in the country’s western regions, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Isolated thunderstorms are also possible. Winds will remain light across most of the country, while Kurzeme will experience moderate to moderately strong northerly and northwesterly winds, with gusts reaching 15–19 m/s and up to 20–23 m/s along the coast. Overnight temperatures will fall to +10°C to +14°C, while daytime highs will range between +15°C and +20°C.
The cyclone’s centre will remain over Latvia on Thursday, bringing prolonged and heavy rainfall to the western and central parts of the country, with some areas expected to experience very heavy rain. Isolated thunderstorms remain possible. Northerly and northwesterly winds in Kurzeme will continue to gust at 15–19 m/s, reaching 20–22 m/s along the coast.
Strong winds will persist into Friday night before gradually easing during the day. Periods of rain are expected across much of the country on Friday, with isolated thunderstorms also possible.
The unsettled weather will continue through the weekend, with mostly cloudy skies and frequent rain. However, winds will weaken, and warmer air is expected to move into Latvia over the weekend, bringing a gradual rise in temperatures that will continue into the beginning of next week.
