Friday is expected to be the hottest day of the week in Latvia, with temperatures forecast to exceed +25°C across almost the entire country, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, sunny spells will alternate with clouds bringing occasional rain. On Tuesday afternoon, eastern Latvia is expected to see thunderstorms and locally heavy downpours, with unsettled conditions continuing into the first half of the night leading into Wednesday.
Light to moderate westerly and southwesterly winds will prevail across the country. On Tuesday, westerly and southwesterly winds will dominate, while thunderstorms may bring sudden, strong wind gusts in some areas.
Night-time temperatures will fall to +10°C to +16°C, while daytime highs will range from +18°C to +21°C. Wednesday will be warmer, with maximum temperatures reaching +19°C to +24°C.
Weather conditions are expected to become warmer and more settled during the second half of the week.
Sunshine will become more frequent, winds will ease, and most days will remain dry.
The exception is expected to come on Friday afternoon and during the night into Saturday, when towering rain clouds are forecast to develop across a larger part of the country, bringing heavy showers and thunderstorms in some areas.
Current forecasts indicate that Friday will be the warmest day of the week, with temperatures rising above +25°C across almost all of Latvia.
Warm weather is expected to continue through the weekend and into the beginning of next week, with daytime highs of +20°C to +25°C in many areas, while some locations could see temperatures climb a few degrees higher.
