After a drone rigged with explosives was found at Leipzig airport, German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt said the country faces hybrid attacks from abroad every day, Reuters reports.
Dobrindt told the Bild and Sonntag newspapers how foreign powers are trying to subjugate Germany politically and socially by sowing fear. Bild reported that the government plans to strengthen its defenses against drones to reduce the threat.
The German Interior Minister said the country is not at war, but is becoming a target for hybrid warfare every day. He said espionage, acts of sabotage, cyberattacks and covert operations by foreign forces aimed at undermining Germany’s stability or causing direct harm were a daily reality. The minister did not name any specific countries.

Meanwhile, the Russian embassy in Berlin rejected the accusations on the 7th of August, saying the Leipzig incident was a fabricated provocation and another example of unfounded assumptions about Russia.
Bild, citing government sources, reported that
the Interior Ministry wants to increase the federal anti-drone defense team from 150 to 300 experts
and the number of corresponding bases from four to eight.
The German armed forces reported on the 8th of August that two drones were observed over a German military base in Mechernich, North Rhine-Westphalia, on the 6th of August.
Meanwhile, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said in a German broadcast on MD MEETS that Russia’s “hybrid war” against European forces is the same as what Europe has done to Russia, noting that Europe has armed Ukraine, imposed sanctions on Russia and financially supported Kiev. At the same time, Vucic also stressed that Ukraine did not start the war, and that one should not confuse the victim with the aggressor.
According to the German version of the broadcast, the Serbian leader does not believe that the war could end sooner than next spring, given the unwillingness to compromise, and added that he believes a wider war is ahead.
